8 Tips for the Professional Man

  1. Don’t wear a short-sleeved shirt with a suit. It’s not professional.

  2. Shirt sleeve should extend ¼ to ½ inch beyond suit sleeve.

  3. Suit sleeve should end at midpoint of wrist bone.

  4. If pants have belt loops, wear a belt. Match belt to shoes. Avoid wearing a belt and braces (suspenders) together.

  5. Tip of tie should hit just at the top of the belt.

  6. Have one uninterrupted line of color from pants to socks to shoes. Socks should be same color or darker than suit or shoe. Wear socks that reach to mid-calf rather than short socks so you don’t see leg.

  7. Trousers should touch shoe, breaking ½ inch over the instep.

  8. Ideal coat length is just below the knee.
