PERSONAL STYLE AND BODY ANALYSIS FOR WOMEN
STYLE TIP The Art of Illusion Dressing working with lines to create illusion of proportion All fashion design is made up of lines, in one way or another. Vertical Lines create illusion of length and height. Use vertical lines in stripes, zippers, collars, row of buttons, etc. to appear taller and thinner. Horizontal Lines visually widen. The eye moves slower over a horizontal line and will make someone appear wider and shorter. Can be used to add width to a narrow shoulder, but be careful where you place horizontals. Diagonal Lines or oblique lines suggest movement. Can appear more slenderizing than horizontal lines depending on where diagonal is placed on the body. Curved Lines add roundness or fullness to illusion of proportion. A curved line softens the look, whereas a straight line creates a more authoritative look. Depending on the angle of the curve, it can lengthen or shorten. Creating an illusion by the clothes we wear works for men too.
